Illegal workers found at top Swansea restaurant
FOUR men from Bangladesh were found working illegally in one of Swansea's most high-profile Indian restaurants, the UK Border Agency has said.
When officers from the agency swooped on the Patti Raj, near St Helen's rugby and cricket ground, they were said to have found three men — a 23-year-old waiter and two kitchen workers aged 27 and 31 — had over-stayed their visas, and a 40-year-old kitchen worker who was working illegally.

The 23-year-old was arrested and is being held in immigration detention awaiting his removal from Britain, while the other three men have been ordered to report weekly to a Swansea police station while the authorities arrange emergency travel documents allowing them to be removed from the country and sent home.
Andrew Hogan, of the UK Border Agency, said bosses who recruited illegal workers were damaging legitimate businesses which "played by the rules".

He said: "We are determined to stamp out the problem of illegal working and abuse of the immigration system.
"Employers who take on illegal workers are both fuelling illegal immigration and damaging legitimate businesses who play by the rules.
"We are sending a simple, clear message to people who are in the country illegally — more operations are planned and you will be caught."
Amin Shah, from the Patti, said he was always careful about who he employed, and said the workers had all provided documentation.
Staff from the Border Agency also raided two Neath takeaways as part of the operation, which was carried out on Wednesday and Friday last week.
At the China Chef in New Road, Skewen, the Border Agency said a man tried to flee from the business as officers swooped.
He was caught and checks revealed him to be a 35-year-old Chinese man who had entered the UK illegally. He was arrested and is currently being held at an immigration removal centre.
Meanwhile, at the Noble Balti House, in Pant-yr-Heol, Briton Ferry, a Bangladeshi kitchen worker was found to have over-stayed his visa according to the agency — arrangements are now being made to remove the 32-year-old
Owner Tajul Islam said he ran a reputable business and that the staff member in question had provided documents.
The Border Agency said the raids followed intelligence received from the public, and it is urging anyone with information about people working illegally to come forward.

“I don't think your every going to get many indigenous people working in India/Chinese restaurants. It's the same with Italian/French restaurants. And to be honest it's part of the experience, having say a Chinese man serving you.
Obviously no one wants people working illegally working in the UK and paying no Tax, after all we've got enough indigenous millionaires already doing that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

“This place was in the papers for bad hygenie the other month, now this...
Been to all the ones around here, best I had is Zafran in skewen.
Though the chutney tray in mumbai\blackpill is the best I had because they are much bigger, and we usually run out of stuff before the paps are eaten in Zafran.
But overall zafran is king.”

With G4S rapidly taking over virtually anything that Government sector workers do, Troll17776 will see his wish come true and all of us will have to have our, soon to be introduced, work permits stamped with their sinister red, black and white symbol.

“Peter17776: "well...any worker should be checked with the border agency before employing them...and a passport check....."
I presume that by 'any worker' you are also including people who are white and speak with a local accent?”
