Hundreds of listed sites
THERE are just under 30,000 listed buildings in Wales, with 515 in Swansea.
Welsh Government heritage body Cadw grants listed status to buildings, and can also de-list them.
A Cadw spokesman said: "We will consider any request for de-listing if it can be shown that it no longer meets the criteria for listing or was listed in error.
"The criteria for listed a building are based primarily around a building's historic and architectural value.
Historical associations with people or events of national significance and group value with nearby listed buildings can also be taken into account.
"Other factors such as economic or structural viability cannot be taken into consideration, nor can we consider de-listing a building if it's is currently, or may be subject to, any kind of enforcement action or legal process," added the spokesman.
