BED retailer Dreams has gone into administration after suffering a decline in sales.

Dreams runs 266 stores across the UK in locations including Swansea, Port Talbot, Llanelli and Carmarthen.

The company employs around 2,000 staff.

Administrator Ernst & Young has sold the majority of the business, including 171 of its stores, its head office and its two UK manufacturing sites to a company controlled by Sun Capital Partners.

The deal means 1,600 jobs have been transferred to the buyer, leaving 400 positions at risk.

Remaining stores not included in the sale will remain open for business while administrators look for buyers.

Dreams has secured investment and will continue to operate as a going concern.

Customer orders will be honoured where part payment deposits have been made for goods and customer warranties.
