Hundreds gather for funeral of former Swansea lady mayoress Susan Holley
HUNDREDS of people gathered to pay their last respects to a former mayoress of Swansea.
Mourners packed St Joseph's Cathedral in the Greenhill area of the city to say goodbye to Susan Holley, who died at her home with her family by her side last month.
The 58-year-old was married to former Swansea mayor and Swansea Council leader Chris Holley and had two daughters, Rachel and Nicola.
Mrs Holley's funeral was held at the same cathedral in which she was married.

Father Michael Burke lead the ceremony which was attended by local personalities including Swansea City legend Mel Nurse, former city mayor Councillor Richard Lewis, and current council leader David Phillips.
Father Burke paid tribute to Mrs Holley and said: "We wish to offer Chris, Rachel and Nicola our sincere condolences on the death of Susan, beloved wife and mother.
"St Joseph's Cathedral has played a prominent role in the lives of many prominent members of this city.
"It is a well-known fact that when you lose something it seems more important than all the things you still possess.
"We never know what we have until we lose it and how much truer it is when it is not an object that we lose, but a person.
"Nothing will ever quite be the same again."
Mourners at the funeral received a programme which described how Mrs Holley would be greatly missed by many people including her brother Robert and sister Debra, her brothers-in-law Gerard, Kevin and Vivian, sisters- in-law Ann, Dena and Frances and her many nieces and nephews.
The programme stated: "She also leaves her friends who will miss her ever-loving support."
Mrs Holley became lady mayoress in 2006 and celebrated her 30th wedding anniversary in October of the same year.
Father Burke addressed the mourners and said: "I'm sure each of you has fond memories of encounters with Susan.
"Today we are sad at losing someone who was loved by everyone.
"We know that love is stronger than death."
Following the service, friends and family of Mrs Holley were invited to join her family for refreshments at the Cwmfelin Social Club in the Cwmbwrla area of Swansea.
