Hundreds of Swansea City fans gather overnight to pick up Capital One Cup Final tickets
HUNDREDS of Swansea City fans queued through the night to secure their tickets for the Capital One Cup final.
Supporters camped in the Liberty Stadium to guarantee their tickets for the big match against Bradford City at Wembley.
According to officials at the ground, around 800 dedicated fans turned out to get their hands on the tickets for the game, which will see the Swans appear in their first ever major cup final on February 24.
And while the first team were playing out a goalless draw at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland, fans were already making their way to the ticket office.
First in line to pick up his tickets was Martin Northy of Penlan.
The 31-year-old said: “It’s a very special occasion. I was here at 5.30pm on Tuesday, it was cold and windy but it was worth it.
“I won’t be selling any of them, I can’t wait to enjoy the day.
“It is my girlfriend Clare’s birthday so I am taking her and her parents, we will be going up on the Friday and coming back Monday.
“I think they will do it, 100 per cent.
“We are doing really well, the manager has done so well, I am really proud of the boys.”
Another fan, Paul Cullen, 24, from Morriston, who arrived at 6pm on Tuesday night, said: “It was a freezing night but it was a good laugh — everyone was all excited about it.
“We brought a two-man tent along with us just in case we were outside.
“We have got tickets for all the boys and we will be going on the coach together.
“The Swans have come so far in such a short space of time and we are going even further.
“If we win this we will get into Europe.”
As fans queued through the day, patience began to wear thin for some supporters due to the sheer demand of tickets.
One fan, Peter Davies, expressed his frustration about the lack of information given to fans.
He said: “I have been here since 4.30am and it is terrible.
“Everyone around me is moaning.
“There has been no manager here telling us anything, there is a tannoy system here but no-one has said a word.”
