OSPREYS coach Jonathan Humphreys will tonight be at the relaunch of a local boxing club he helped restore in his father's memory.

Humphreys's dad Colin, who died two years ago, was a former British welterweight champion who trained at the Porthcawl and Pyle Pumas Boxing Club.

In recent years the club had fallen into disrepair so, as a tribute to the late Humphreys, its members were determined to restore the building to a fit and functional state.

Club man Edward Ellis, together with Ospreys forwards coach Humphreys and his brother Richard, earmarked £75,000 as the figure required to rejuvenate the club.

The goal has now been reached, and the Porthcawl and Pyle Pumas Boxing Club is back in working order.

"Jonathan, his brother Richard and I decided to take up the challenge and we're delighted to have reached our goal," said Ellis.

"This has all been possible because of the generosity of many local companies and because so many people have given up their time."
