Horse put down after fall on Horton beach in Gower

A HORSE had to be put down, following an incident at Horton beach in Gower. 

Swansea Coastguards attended the incident today.

 Initial reports were that the animal had fallen on the beach.

Coastguards said the horse's 20-year-old rider was taken by ambulance to Morriston Hospital following the incident, to be treated for a suspected broken leg or ankle, and a called to treat the horse had to put it to sleep, following injuries it had suffered.

Later today, just after 3pm, paramedics treated an unconscious 41-year-old man near the children's play area on Swansea beach.

He was taken to Morriston Hospital by road.
