Home sweet home is just perfect for a happy family!
IT'S the most important day of your life.
But when the bride's father can't give her away then there is only one thing for it — take the wedding to him.
Happy newlyweds Anwen Jones-Vaughan and hubby Stephen were married at St Hilary's Church in Killay last week.
Her father Jack has lived at Llys y Tywysog Care Home for the past two years as he suffers with Parkinson's Disease.
Unfortunately he was too ill to attend the wedding, so the couple organised a blessing at the home so he could celebrate the big day as well.
Bishop Vaughan teacher Anwen, 43, said: "We had a brilliant wedding day, I would like to do it all over again.
"They treat dad like royalty at the home, like a king, they are amazing.
"My mum Eirena also moved there last October, she has got dementia but you wouldn't know it from speaking to her.
"She was well enough to come to the church, some of the staff brought her down in the mini bus.
"She had an amazing day and had a couple of glasses of wine.
"But dad unfortunately wasn't well enough to come so we decided to have a blessing there."
While Anwen's mum was well enough to attend the actual day, the blessing ensured that her dad was part of the wedding celebrations. And after all the home have done for her parents, Anwen was quick to praise the staff there too.
"The residents and staff there are like family.
"And it was beautiful what they did, they decorated the home with flowers, it was lovely.
"I wore my dress, and had four of my bridesmaids there, along with two page boys."
"I was crying, he is so special to me, I am so glad he was there.
"He used to be a musical director and he sung his heart out to Calon Lan.
"The day completed everything, he got to see me in his dress as well.
"We want to say a massive thank you to the home for what they did."
