Home is glass act
IF you have ever watched Grand Designs and dreamed of living in a house made of glass, oak and stainless steel, then this could be your ideal home.

Ten years ago the couple and their three small children were living in a big, rambling old house in Bishopston.
"We were spending all our time and money on it and we were fed up with all the DIY, so we started looking for another house that would be a complete antidote to that," said Angela.

"We looked at new houses but there was nothing we liked, so we decided to take something that we could modernise."
The house they chose was a 1960s bungalow in a quiet residential street close to Langland Bay.
"We knew what we wanted — a low maintenance home that was full of light — and so we got in a builder and an architect (Steve Buckmaster) to bring our vision to life," said Angela.
"We took the house back to just the four outside walls and then built it back up again with two extensions to provide the space we needed."
The results are stunning. The first-floor open-plan living space has a vaulted roof, floor-to-ceiling windows, Welsh oak floors (with underfloor heating), and patio doors out onto a wide balcony overlooking the garden.
The kitchen is all gleaming white, chrome and stainless steel and has a heavenly amount of storage.
The four bedrooms (master en-suite) are on the same level in a separate wing with a corridor cleverly lit by sun pipes.
There is also a utility/laundry room, bathroom, and separate cloakroom on this level.
From the light-filled entrance hallway, a stainless steel and oak staircase leads down to the ground floor where there is another impressive accommodation area.
A huge lounge with two sets of French windows leads out to the patio and garden, and there is also a bathroom and a room which could be used as a bedroom.
"It is my beloved study at the moment but we have also used it as a band practice room when the boys were younger as it has quadruple glazing and is pretty soundproof," said Angela.
"This downstairs area is self-contained and we built it that way because we wanted the children to have their own space where they could entertain their friends. It could just as easily be used as a granny annexe though."
Another bonus is a large area of dry storage under the house.
Externally, there is driveway parking for four cars and a well-kept and easily maintained garden planted with lawns and shrubs.
"The garden isn't overlooked and the balcony faces south west so it's the perfect place to sit and soak up any afternoon and evening sunshine," said Angela.
"It's been the perfect family house, but our children have all grown up and left home so sadly the house is much too big for us now."
