Hog roast for guide dog appeal
THE Eagle Inn in Llangyfelach is hosting a series of events to raise £5,000 within the next year as part of an initiative to help train guide dogs for the blind.
The pub hopes to raise the money in order to sponsor and name one guide dog. The pub started this venture after they were approached by the Guide Dogs For the Blind Association who suggested the idea to them to raise the money.
Landlord Michael Verbeeck, said that around £200 was raised at a hog roast at the pub yesterday.
Mr Verbeeck said: "I have always had dogs, and this is something I have always wanted to do. The pub has raised £11,500 previously for various other organisations and we thought that training guide dogs was a worthy cause. I'm really pleased with the way that the hog roast went as a good number of people turned out to support us and help raise the money."
Over the next year The Eagle Inn is planning to host a number of events to raise the remaining money including a Halloween party, and fancy dress party to ready their target.
