Historian to launch latest boo at Aberavon RFC tonight
ABERAVON Rugby Club is to host the launch of Angela John's book Turning the Tide: The Life of Lady Rhondda this evening from 6.30pm.
The widely-published historian and biographer living in Pembrokeshire but originally from Port Talbot. For many years she held the chair in History at the University of Greenwich, London. She is now an Honorary Professor at Aberystwyth University and is a vice-president of Llafur, the Welsh People's History Society.
Turning the Tide is her tenth book. This rich biography tells the remarkable tale of Margaret Haig Thomas (1883-1958) who became the second Viscountess Rhondda.
A Welsh suffragette she was instrumental in securing a seat for women in the House of Lords.
