High rate of kids in care
THE number of looked-after children in Swansea remains among the highest in Wales.
There were 591 of them in April, for example, although that had reduced to 565 by June. This in turn had helped drive an overspend in the council's child and family services department.
The details were contained in correspondence between two councillors, Mike Day and cabinet member for wellbeing Mark Child.
The letters also said 40 new foster carers dad been recruited within Foster Swansea in the past year.
