Heritage well worth saving
GWILYM Levell and his fellow band of Welsh language dissenters seem incapable of honouring the legacy to preserve a tongue old in origin, rich in musicality and unique in its literary quality.
Every year I attend an opera at the Grand Theatre. It is invariably in Italian (a beautiful language for the voice) but a translation in English and Welsh is shown above the stage. Among the audience I hear as much Cymraeg as English, suggesting we here are culturally gifted people. If the heritage with which we are blessed is to be sacrificed on the altar of prejudice, I can only say 'cenedl heb iaith, cenedl heb galon' (A nation without language, a nation without heart)!
