WELSH MP Peter Hain is urging people to stay warm as the cold snap grips the country.

Mr Hain, who is MP for Neath, said support was available for those in the community who are worried about heating their homes through the Home Heat Helpline.

The helpline is there to offer vital support to those struggling to pay their energy bills.

Mr Hain said: "With soaring energy prices and plummeting temperatures many people are struggling to heat their homes this winter or face huge bills doing so. The Home Heat Helpline can provide help and support."

    “maxmin
It's all topsy turvy now. The Conservative Government limits public sector pay rises, cuts the Winter Fuel Allowance and we get comments blaiming a member of the Opposition.”

“Isn't it funny when a Conservative - I think it might have been Norman Tebbit- suggested ways of keeping warm in the cold weather all you could hear from the left was howls of condemnation”

Excellent advice Peter you're worth every penny you claim on expenses.
If only there was a post of Minister of Stating the Bleeding Obvious you would be the obvious choice.”

“Didn't Tango Hain claim money for the building of a log store at Chateau Hain?”

“Tango man will say or do anything to get his face or name in the media or paper these days. Are you paying for the elderly or disabled to put the heating on Peter? thought not..
Most people are not entitled to any help whatsoever toward their heating through home heating or warm care unless they qualify through very strict criteria. ie a severe disability premium. My elderly fathers winter fuel allowance has been cut like everyone elses this winter by £50 Mr Hain, why didn't you do something about that when you were in power? instead of telling OAP'S to "Stay warm" in the cold winter snap. Maybe Mr Hain has made enough money from the sale of his book and memoirs to keep his heating "full on" through the "Winter cold snap".. hippocrit.”

“I dont understand why this man is referred to at all. He is just a smug, a**hole. I emailed him a genuine query re why public sector pay has been capped at a maximum of 1% yet benefits are going up 5% next year and guess what - no reply - not that I should have expected anything. He is just a con artist like the rest of them”

“It is so important for all elderly to make sure they stay warm at this time! And who better to advice them other than our Peter!
Mr Hain claimed the maximum amount under the ACA scheme in the past two years. His claims show he used more than £6,000 worth of heating oil at his home in Neath in just over two years
