BUSINESSES in the upper Swansea Valley that deal with members of the public will have the chance to receive advice on how to manage violence and aggression in the workplace.

Powys Council officers will be visiting premises including shops, clubs, pubs and takeaways, as part of a campaign by the Health and Safety Executive to tackle workplace violence.

Plans to extend the scheme could see more premises visited next year, but in the meantime any businesses in the county are invited to contact the authority to give feedback.

Graham Brown, Powys board member responsible for public protection, said: "Businesses shouldn't have to accept work-related violence as being part of the job.

"The aim of the project is to raise awareness of the range of measures that can be taken."
