'Help our councils raise cash'
THE Welsh Government must do more to help councils find ways of raising funds, according to a Swansea-based AM.
Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg has announced the devolution of new powers to England's cities.
This is aimed at helping them invest in growth, job creation, business support and critical infrastructure improvements.
Lib-Dem AM Peter Black welcomed the move, which he said would make it easier for councils to borrow money to invest in jobs and growth.

"On the other hand, I am concerned that the Welsh Labour Government still hasn't even launched a consultation on looking at ways to help local councils raise money," he said.
"The Welsh Labour Government has been dragging its heels for some time now with regards to helping councils finance investment. Once again they are allowing Wales to lag behind."
He said the Lib-Dems believed in devolving power to local authorities.
