Heart-breaking story of Brian 'Yogi' Davies released
THE autobiography of a popular Welsh rugby player has been released shortly after his death.
The Scrum that Changed My Life tells the heart-breaking story of Brian 'Yogi' Davies.
On April 21, 2007 the North Walian was playing in the front row for Bala against Nant Conwy. He was 49 years old and made captain for the day, as it was his last game for the town. Five minutes into the game the first scrum collapsed, leaving him with life-changing injuries: a broken neck and damaged lungs.
The book tells the story of his life before the accident and his heroic fight for survival following the scrum that changed his life.
Lefi Gruffudd, of publishers Y Lolfa, said: "This is the most honest and emotionally charged book we have ever published. The story has touched many hearts in Wales. I hope that this inspiring book will reach the wide audience it deserves."
Dennis Gethin, President of the WRU, added: "Every time I met him, he was an absolute inspiration – and Wales and Welsh rugby is a far poorer place without him… What a man and what a loss for Wales."
