Health board concerns
CALLS have been made for the Welsh Government's Health Minister to step in over proposed changes to hospitals in West Wales.
Assembly members Paul Davies and Angela Burns have written to Hywel Dda Community Health Council, urging them to oppose the health board's plans.
They have called on the Community Health Council to refer the matter to Health minister Lesley Griffiths.
Preseli Pembrokeshire AM Mr Davies said: "The people have spoken loud and clear in relation to Hywel Dda health board's reconfiguration proposals.

"Sadly, the health board has decided to ignore their views and continue to press ahead with a series of controversial plans, which includes closing the special care baby unit at Withybush hospital and the minor injuries units at Tenby and Pembroke Dock."
Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire AM Angela Burns added: "It is vital that these decisions are reviewed. As yet there is no firm agreement in place as to who is going to provide the alternative cover for the minor injury units and I fail to see how the health board can be so determined with regard to the special care baby units when there are still so many variables at play. The Health Minister must show some leadership, only she has a complete overview and she must ensure that the work of health boards is joined up."

“More delaying tactics. Such changes are inevitable eventually so lets get on with it. Don't allow political interest take priority.”
