Hat-trick for young Jack as Calsonic romp to big win
CALSONIC continue to set the pace at the top of the under-13 division in the Carmarthenshire Junior Football League and tromped to a ten-goal derby win over visitors Camford in their latest outing.
The goals were shared between Joe Stephens, Marcus Edwards, Ben Grant, Lloyd Weston and Iwan McNab, while Jack Thomas notched a hat-trick and Morgan Cutler grabbed two.
Also in the under-13 division, visitors Johnstown edged out a spirited Burry Port outfit 4-2 in a cracking top-of-the-table clash.
Winger Keenan Jones was influential as the hosts battled back from a two-goal deficit early in the second half to make a game of it late on. They fell just short of completing a fine comeback, however. Burry Port's goals came via a Ryan Owens double as they eventually fell to a 4-2 defeat.
Drefach produced a battling display before going down 4-3 away at Llangennech in a feisty affair. Goals from Tom Woods, Keenan Rees and Gareth Davies were ultimately to no avail as the visitors failed to recover from a slow start to the match.
Llan were full value for the victory, their goals coming via a Connor Morgan double and fine strikes from Jack Grosvenor and Jack Hussey.
Elsewhere in the division Seaside hammered Llandovery 10-1, whilst Dafen came off second best against an excellent Garden Village side in the West Wales Under-13 Cup. Eray Wilson had given Dafen hope with a fine strike but they were eventually seen off 6-1.
In the under-12 division, Teigrod Teilo lost 3-1 at Hendy. The visitors struggled to contain Iestyn Scott as he notched a double before Daniel Flattery sealed it late on.
Louie Rees scored four goals as Dafen thumped Seaside 8-2 to remain in contention at the top.
Dafen's other goals came from Cain Maguire, Tristan Jenkins, Osian Dillon and Lenny Evans. Seaside replied with a penalty from Kieran Dawe and a fine strike from Josh Nicholas.
Keeper Jacob Skeels and full-back Sion Thomas were prominent for a Llangennech team that suffered a 10-1 defeat at Pontarddulais. The Llan goal came via an own goal.
Johnstown's game at home to Calsonic was postponed.
Drefach are enjoying a fine season in the under-14 division and continued their encouraging form by dispatching Pengelli 6-2.
Striker Tom Rodgers was the star of the show with four goals, while influential midfielder Jordan Thomas and skipper Jamie Rafferty weighed in with a goal each.
Camford were indebted to midfielder Shaun Thomas as he notched the only goal of the game against visitors Ammanford. The hosts had to defend for long periods, with centre-halves Theo Benjamin and Sam Woodnutt outstanding.
A hat-trick from Mathew Pritchard and a fine display by keeper Aled Adams paved the way for a depleted Calsonic side to draw 3-3 with Abergwili.
Under-16 league leaders Tumble mixed enterprise with endeavour to overcome plucky visitors Hendy 7-1.
They raced into a 4-0 interval lead thanks to an Iwan Morgan double and a goal apiece from Sam Jones and Daf Jenkins. Tomos Lloyd and Steffan Howard added goals in the second half before Tristan Bateman produced a calm finish for Hendy.
Having kept a clean sheet in the first half, Tumble keeper Ciaran Llewellyn was deployed as a forward in the second half and scored a fine goal.
Daniel Kirkhouse was the stand-out player for Camford as they brushed aside Burry Port 9-0. Twins Rhodri and Llyr made it a day to remember in the Parkman household as they notched a goal apiece.
A goal from James Evans could not save Seaside from a 3-1 defeat at home to Ammanford, while two goals from Daniel Gealy gave Wellfield a hard- earned 2-1 win at Saron.
Bancffosfelen continued their recent upturn in form in the under-15 division as they completed a league double with a 2-1 victory over visitors Calsonic.
It was 1-1 at half time, striker Ryan Morley netting for Calsonic and keeper Josh Kilmi saving a penalty. Banc's goals were scored by Aaron Jones and Rhys Evans.
Marco Bonandrini scored from two fine free-kicks for Teigrod Teilo as they gained a hard-fought 2-1 victory at Llangennech, while Luke Jenkins scored Dafen's only goal in their M J Bush Cup 5-1 exit against Ammanford.
