A FFAIRFACH butcher has come through thousands of entries to win a national award for the third year running.

Dewi Roberts won the Countryside Alliance Highly Commended prize for his locally-sourced meat and produce.

Mr Roberts, who has been a butcher in Ffairfach and Llandeilo for the past 27 years, said: "It surprised me to be honest — we've won this award for three years running now.

"What's really quite nice about it is that you are nominated by your customers."

He said he sells as much local produce as he can, specialising in salt-marsh lamb, game, and beef. He also sells 30 different types of cheese and 14 different types of cooked meats.
