CARMARTHEN and District Harriers did well at the Welsh Under-17 and under-20 Indoor Championships in Cardiff.

They won a total of 12 medals — eight gold, one silver and three bronze.

In the under-17 age group, Aled Price won two gold medals and one silver. He won the 60m hurdles in a time of 8.44 seconds and the long jump with a leap of 6.45m.

He cleared 3.03m in the pole vault to win silver.

Nikita Neary won the under-15 boys' 3000m race by more than 100 metres in a time of 9.23.37.

His time beat the Welsh Under-15 indoor best performance and championship best performance by more than 12 seconds.

Earlier in January Nikita won the Welsh 800m and 1500m events.

Erin Walters won two gold medals.

She took the high jump with a height of 1.65m and the long jump with 5.28m.

Leap

Rhys Granville won gold in the under-17 400m with a time of 52.04. His winning time in the heat was 51.78.

In the under-20 age group, gold medals were by Daniel Blain in the 60m hurdles in 8.49 and Ffion Rees with an excellent leap of 5.34m in the long jump.

Shaun Pearce, a first year under-17 athlete, won two bronze medals. He was third in the 60m with a time of 7.34, only 0.04 seconds behind the winner, then took bronze in the 200m in 24.35.

Enfys Jones had a good performance in the under-17, winning a bronze medal with a clearance of 2.61m.

Personal best performances were recorded by Christian Lovatt in the under-17 1500m and Ronan Llyr in the under-20 1500.

Both finished fourth. Christian's time was 4.28.73 and Ronan's 4.29.76.
