Happy Apple ipad day - as company set to announce new products
TODAY is Apple iPad day, or so it seems.
If you’re interested in technology, there is no more important day than when Apple prepares to unveil something new.
That something new is expected to be two new iPads: an iPad 5 and a second generation iPad mini.
Also expected are release dates for the new Mac Pro and OS X Mavericks, as well as updates to the company’s MacBook Pro range of laptops.
There are also hints, according to pundits, we might see Apple revamping its Apple TV set-top box, or introduce a new line of iPad accessories similar to Microsoft’s ‘blades’ for the Surface.
As far as the iPad 5 is concerned, there have been leaked photos of cases showing Apple is retaining its 9.7-inch Retina display but with a slimmer design and edges similar to those of the iPhone 5s.
There is expected to be a new A7 64-bit processor and most likely the inclusion of Touch ID embedded into the home button.
Memory could be increased from the current options of 32GB, 64GB and 128GB.
The ipad mini will also have a fresh look, with a retina screen to boot.
The current mini has a 163ppi screen, compared to Google’s Nexus 7 and Amazon’s Kindle Fire HDX which offer pixel density of 323 ppi.
Touch ID is expected and new colours for both iPads including gold and ‘Space Grey’.
We can expect a buzz of chatter on social networks later about all the new announcements coming out from San Francisco at about 6pm UK time.
And you can bet several Christmas lists will be written tonight with the new products right at the top of them.
