HIGH NOTES First folk festival is ready for lift-off
THE line-up for Burry Port's first folk festival night has been unveiled.
The event, which forms the first night of this year's new-look three-day carnival in the town, is a collaboration between the Burry Port Folk Club and the carnival organisers.
Featuring folk music and poetry, the night is being held at the carnival marquee on the harbour fields.
Headlining the event will be popular Swansea bluegrass band Up the Creek.
The group plays a mixture of bluegrass and Irish standards, with a mixture of pop from the 60s, 70s and 80s, with the lineup including guitars, banjo, fiddle and percussion. And there will be poetry from writer and broadcaster John Bilsborough, who has created hundreds of topical poems and features for radio and television.
There will be a bar and hog roast at the event, on Friday, July 5.
