A MICRO hydro-power turbine could soon be generating electricity in the Penllergare Valley Woods.

Swansea Council has granted conditional planning permission for the scheme which could see power generated both to supply facilities on the site and to sell to the National Grid.

Electricity created by the turbine and sold on would also generate income for the management and maintenance of the Valley Woods.

The local authority has also granted permission for the de-silting of Upper Lake.
