Good call for firm
UNWANTED phone calls are a terrible nuisance for many householders.
Those wretched cold-callers always choose the worst moment — when you are dishing up food or bathing the baby — to ring and ask you if you want double glazing.
Has anyone ever replied: "I'd never considered it before, but now I'm convinced. Sign me up immediately"?
The silent calls are even worse. They are disconcerting if you live alone, and even worse if you haven't been able to get in touch with a loved one.
And surely the extent of the problem is underlined by the fact people are prepared to pay a Swansea firm to put an end to their phone misery. And Call Prevention Directory is already doing good business.
If only they could stop the calls from overseas they would make a fortune.

“An article that's an advert, followed by two similar posters who back it up. It's an interesting new form of advertisement for the EP!”

“Actually David the evening post to read on-line is not free for me; I have to pay SKY every month for the privilege of accessing a sometimes wonderful tool called the Internet, maybe I should move to trallwn if the Internet is free over there, LOL.”

“I have used the TPS for years and basically it does work. However if you are registered with the TPS and you still get nuisance calls all you have to tell them is that you have registered with the TPS and their company should have looked at the register of those who had opted out of cold calling. Being as they did not that Company was breaking the law. Ask for the name of the Company and they will soon disappear from the telephone line and never telephone you again.”

“Jacqui, SA7 - actually, you said "anything that is advertised as "FREE" is complete myth these days". You may have a degree but you don't have any common sense or knowledge of what goes on around you. There are thousands of free things. And they are genuinely free. The economics of it works and it is a well-known business model.
You are reading and commenting on teh Evening Post website. That is totally free to you. The EP don't charge you to read it. The costs are covered by advertisers. But the website is free for anyone that wants to use it.”

“Well that was quite an outburst wasn't it Dave, Trallwn, I wasn't talking about iTunes (if that¿s free and it works great) I was talking about the TPS and that definitely doesn't work, I know many people who have registered with them and all but one of them agree that it just doesn't stop the harassment calls, whereas this Company actually chase down these parasite cold callers on customers¿ behalf, something that the TPS does not do, maybe you are working in a call centre and fear for your job. Oh and by the way as for my education, I am a graduate with a 2:1 in Microbiology, which is the study of microorganisms, including bacteria, fungi and viruses if you were scratching your head as to what it meant, Dave. Nope, sorry but I still don't think there's a free lunch in this day and age.”
