ALEX Cuthbert admits it may be a tall order trying to replace Shane Williams.

But, at 6ft 6in, the Blues wing at least has the physique for the task.

The 21-year-old has been handed his first Wales start for tomorrow's Six Nations opener in Ireland, which will be the first Test Warren Gatland's men have played since Williams retired from international rugby.

And although Cuthbert may not be looking to mimic the great Osprey's style, he hopes his own brand of powerful, direct rugby can endear him to Welsh fans.

"Shane is a legend in my eyes, and for everyone else in Wales, if not the world," Cuthbert said.

"Just being half the player he has been would be great. I'm just targeting a regular place on the wing.

"I think my speed and my physicality will be my strengths.

"George North and I will look to bring physicality to the team. I'm really looking forward to it."

Cuthbert and North could make for a fearsome double act in Dublin and the Gloucester-born flyer cannot wait to walk on to the Aviva Stadium field.

"I'm very happy, but it hasn't quite sunk in yet," Cuthbert added.

"It was a bit of a surprise, but I'm feeling more excited than nervous.

"I just can't wait to get out there and play."
