GERHARD Tremmel has revealed he longs to play at Wembley after seeing pictures of Swansea City's Championship play-off final success.

The goalkeeper was part of a Swansea side who planted one foot in the Capital One Cup final by beating Chelsea 2-0 in their semi-final first leg on Wednesday.

Rafael Benitez's men visit for the return match in 12 days' time when Swansea hope to secure their place in the showpiece.

That would be a dream come true for Tremmel, who has watched footage of the club's famous 4-2 win under the arch that secured promotion to the Premier League.

"I really dream of playing at Wembley because I've seen pictures of the game against Reading," he said.

"There were 40,000 Swans fans there. I would really love to see that live and hear them.

"I think I would get goose bumps listening to them sing their anthem. It would be really impressive.

"I would look forward to it, but first off we have to play Chelsea again."

Should Swansea reach their first major final next month, Tremmel will be between the posts.

Though he has been understudy to Michel Vorm in the league, the German has been first choice in League Cup games and Laudrup has insisted that will continue.

"He said 'You started the competition so you're going to finish it'," said Tremmel.

"The second leg is going to be a really tough game, they will fire on every cylinder because they have nothing to lose now.

"But I'm sure with our support in the stadium we can get a good result.

"But we have to focus now because we have a lot of games coming like Everton and an FA Cup game against Arsenal.

"We have to try to keep the energy. It's going to be a really hard few weeks."

Tremmel kept his fourth clean sheet of the campaign in West London after producing a full-length save to deny Branislav Ivanovic in the first half.

He also thwarted Ramires, Juan Mata and David Luiz before Demba Ba's late effort was ruled out for offside.

"It was incredible. We tried to give them a game and get a result at the end, and things went really well with the goals we scored," he said.

"We defended pretty well and at the end they didn't have that many chances. They had shots, but they were going wide.

"There weren't many shots on target so I think we defended well and deserved it.

"It sounds a bit insane, but we were definitely not at our best on Wednesday, but we got a result. It's incredible really."

Tremmel admitted he considered leaving Swansea last summer after a frustrating first season where he was short on game-time.

The former Salzburg stopper eventually decided to stay on and has been rewarded for his patience.

He has made 15 appearances so far this season, featuring in other memorable wins against Liverpool, Newcastle and Arsenal, and is now set to discuss extending his stay in South Wales.

"I'm glad I stayed. It was the right decision and I don't regret anything," added the 34-year-old.

"I don't want to go into details, but I think we will have a few talks in the future.

"I love Swansea, I really do, that's been the case from the first moment I came in."

“Without doubt two great keepers. Not a bad position to be in for ML.

However to even think about selling DG at this time would be madness. Michu will attract a host of offers over the next few weeks and if he gets injured then what?

None of the players mentioned in the reports are any better. I can't think of a combination up front that will match these two at the moment.”

“Waunarlwydd. Are you sure your watching our games? I am staggered that so many others 'seemed' to have agreed with you.
If Jenkins picked up the phone to half the premier league managers and offered Vorm, they would bite his fingers off. If he offered Tremmel, i very much doubt that anyone would take him. I am not knocking him. I bricked it when Vorm was injured at MC, but in fairness GT came in and did very well. Great back up.
Vorm is class. He pushes us further up the field where as GT likes to stay in his 6 yard box. If only for that reason, he gets my vote. But it isn't just that, Vorm has so many qualities we should be grateful we have him.”

“Well done Tremmel, you hung on in there and finally got the respect in this league that you deserve.

Hope to see you lifting the cup at wembley. Would be nice to give vorm half a game though vs chelsea or if we make the finals so he can be a part of it should we win as GT has played all games I think.

But if we get to wembley, Tremmel should defintiely be on the field when the whistle blows.”

“If he could sort out his agility, especially the lack of speed when getting down to low shots, then he would be first choice no question. That's a big weakness though.”

“Ok I have to comment on this * I am very pleased indeed that we have Tremmel because for me he is a strong, reliable, damn good goalkeeper. Also he has the edge over Vorm. Just. Tremmel is my preference every time. Sorry but that's my opinion.”
