GEORGE North believes Wales's towering back division have sent out a message to the rest of the Six Nations that they possess the panache to go with the power.

The 19-year-old Scarlet sensation was at his destructive best in Wales's epic 23-21 victory over Ireland in Dublin with his display prompting head coach Warren Gatland to hail the wing as "world class".

The North Walian scored one try and set up another with a rampaging run and sublime flick out of the back of the hand to send regional team-mate Jonathan Davies over.

And as Wales today continued their preparations for the visit of Scotland to the Millennium Stadium on Sunday, North was brimming with enthusiasm about the potential of the Welsh three-quarters.

"We have got some big men in that back line who can get over the gain-line, but we also showed we are not just about trucking it up, there was plenty of skill and finesse in there as well as we showed for all the tries," he said.

North's Dublin wonder show is sure to make him a prime target for opposition defences during the championship — something the youngster is rapidly getting used to.

"I suppose you have to expect that, but there are threats right across the back line and if the opposition are focusing on one player then that means there is going to be more space for the others," he added.

"I was pleased with the way it went for me on Sunday.

"I had been a bit disappointed with the way I had been playing for the Scarlets coming into the tournament so it was a great feeling to get that try as well, which is always pleasing for a wing because that's your job.

"It was a great occasion, it was only my second Six Nations game and pulling on that Welsh jersey again is just as an awesome experience.

"It was a physical match and the body's a bit sore, but it's a case of looking forward to Scotland now."

Wales will be strong favourites to make it two wins from two in Cardiff, although North insists nobody in the camp is getting carried away with the Dublin victory.

"There were a lot of pleasing aspects to the way we played, but there are also areas we will want to improve on," he added.

"Scotland are going to come out strong on Sunday after what happened against England.

"But we will be going into the game with confidence, it's all about the next game for us and being back in Cardiff is a bonus.

"What the Ireland result showed is where we are as a squad. There is a huge amount of belief and character here and the camaraderie is fantastic among the boys. Moving forward, it is a great place to be."

Meanwhile, Wales's win has moved them up to sixth in the latest IRB rankings, replacing Ireland who slump to Wales's previous position of eighth. England are just above Wales with Scotland dropping to 11th.
