Funds rolls in for Romanian family in need
HUNDREDS of pounds have already started rolling in to help make Christmas a time to remember for a family in need.
Charity fundraiser Val Newton said there had been a good response from Evening Post readers after a call for help was launched by the paper in aid of the Agipa family in Romania.
The 73-year-old, from Maesybont, Cross Hands, said she was thrilled so many people had been moved to give so far to help offer crucial financial support to Mrs Agipa along with her children Catelina, 13, Vasile, 11, and Mihai, 8, who have nowhere to live.
She said: "After only a few days I've already had cheques of £420 in so far.

"I've also had messages left on my phone saying that people wanted to make a donation.
"We need to raise £2,500 for the family."
She added: "I am almost certain they will get into a new home before Christmas.
"I will be looking to spend about £200 — £300 on fire wood to heat the property once they move in as temperatures fall to -30."
Mrs Newton revealed Mrs Agipa's 18- year-old daughter had committed suicide and that the three younger children had tried to take their own lives recently due to their brutal father and extreme poverty. As the family has nowhere to live the three youngsters are currently living in a mental hospital.
The youngsters will be released from the hospital once the house is built.
They have started work on a small house on a plot of land given by the Mayor of Curea which cost £6,500.
Mrs Newton, who set up the charity Wales Romanian Aid, with her late husband Bill in 1971, said a total of £4,000 had been raised so far but she still needs small donations towards finishing the house and buying the family furniture.
The couple set up the organisation after being moved by the plight of Romanian orphans in a TV programme featuring Anneka Rice.
