CARAVAN owners have stepped up a fundraising drive in tribute to a young woman who died in a car crash.

Bank Farm Residents Club in Horton organised a sponsored walk, fete and gala in memory of Rachel Waters of Loughor.

Supporters took to the coastal paths of Gower, walking 12 miles from Llangennith to Horton.

Around 80 people joined the sponsored walk, as part of their fundraising drive for the Rachel Waters Remembrance Fund, in aid of Wales Air Ambulance.

Bank Farm resident John Scott said walkers saw one of the helicopters in action while the fundraiser took place.

Leave your Lasting Tribute to Rachel Waters

He said: "We decided to raise money in memory of Rachel as we know her family well and the Air Ambulance is such a deserving cause, especially in Gower — it really is needed here.''

Bank Farm res-idents managed to raise £6,000, with neighbouring site Mumby Caravan Park contributing a further £1,000.

The Rachel Waters Remembrance Fund was set up following the 18-year-old's death in February. So far more than £20,000 has been raised.
