Fundraising football match helps bring in cash in memory of a late Swansea health worker
FRIENDS of a late Swansea health worker have scored £1,000 through a fundraising football match in his memory.
For the fifth year running family and friends of Garry 'Waggy' Davies, a health care support worker at Morriston Hospital's theatres, held the match.
Mr Davies died in 2008 and a total of £1,000 was raised for Cancer Research.
The Waggy Warriors' took on Sunnybank FC, at Coed Gwilym Park, but they lost 1 – 6.
Martin Bourne, operating department support worker at Morriston Hospital said it was a great event and added: "Garry used to play for Sunnybank FC and his two boys Nathan and Kristian continue to play for the club.
"It was great day and really well supported.
"The presentation, raffle and auction all went well and we were overwhelmed with donations."
