Roads Policing Inspector Carwyn Evans said: "The two cars drove through this small community for at least two miles before the collision occurred and other road users and residents may remember seeing them. The Proton hatchback in particular is very distinctive, and had silver stripes over its bonnet and boot."
He asked any residents living on the route with private CCTV cameras to get in touch.
"Any information could prove vastly important to our ongoing investigation," he said.
