A MAN has appeared in court and denied two charges of benefit fraud.

The first charge alleges that on December 3, 2009, Clifford Johnson, 59, of Llandeilo Road, Llandybie, made a false statement to obtain benefits, namely employment support allowance, by failing to declare he had three occupational pensions.

The second alleges that on May 10, 2009, he also made false representations to Carmarthenshire Council while trying to obtain council tax.

A trial was set at the Crown Court for April 4.
