Fishing for a goal...

MY mate reckons Swansea City went fishing to help team-bonding the other day.

He says they caught loads of fish, but came home with nothing because they couldn't find the net.

My mate's a Cardiff fan.

He's enjoying watching the Swans suffer in front of goal while Michael Chopra has been tossing his red-hot boot round the Cardiff City Stadium.

Catchy name.

It has not been the most enjoyable start to the season for us Jacks.

Plenty of people have tried their luck in front of goal, but few have come up smiling.

We've signed a bloke called Gun and even he can't hit the target.

My old teacher used to say he played me centre-back because I couldn't hit a barn door with a banjo.

The way the Swans are going at the moment, I reckon they'd miss the farmhouse as well.

Our best bet so far this season has been Stephen Dobbie, who got three goals in the League Cup and looks like a player.

But he's barely kicked a ball in the Championship thanks largely to injury and I can't wait to see him back.

Gorka Pintado has put a shift in when called upon but rarely looked like getting on the scoresheet, while we've only had glimpses of Craig Beattie since he arrived before the transfer deadline.

The same goes for Lee Trundle. We all know what a good finisher he used to be, but we don't know yet whether he has still got it because he's not really had a chance.

At least one of that lot needs to start delivering — and we need someone to step up to the plate from midfield.

Fingers crossed, Ferrie Bodde can pick up where he left off before his injury last season, but even then Swansea need more.

If it's not going to Leon Britton or Darren Pratley — when he gets back — maybe Joe Allen or Andrea Orlandi can start chipping in.

It's the same story with the wingers — Mark Gower, Nathan Dyer and the rest need to come to the party.

I'm sure Ashley Williams has enjoyed calling himself top-scorer, but I bet he didn't think the tag would last this long.
