A POPULAR fireworks display which attracts more than 1,000 people to Burry Port every year has been cancelled.
The event, organised by the local yacht club, has been scrapped this year due to funding issues.
Club Treasurer Andrew Davies said that the event had become a "victim of the recession".
He added: "The cost of the event has risen every year and although some people donate on the night toward the expense, the net loss is now too much for the club to carry."
The annual event has taken place in the harbour for the past 20 years. This is the first year it has been cancelled, according to Mr Davies.
