Firefighter suspended over tweet

A FIREFIGHTER has been suspended from duty, following allegations that inappropriate comments have been made on Twitter.

Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service has launched an investigation, after the fire officer, who serves at Ammanford's station, allegedly tweeted the messages while on duty.

One of the alleged tweets is said to have contained swear words.

The officer was reported to managers following the alleged tweets.

The fire service said it was carrying out an internal investigation.

A spokesman said: "We can confirm that a member of staff from Ammanford has been suspended.

"An internal investigation is currently under way.

"It would be inappropriate to comment further at this time."
