Fined for dropping rubbish
A LLANELLI man has been fined by magistrates for dropping litter.
Anthony Mark Evans, aged 32, of Burry Street, was convicted in absence to an offence under Section 87 of the Environmental Protection Act.
He was fined £75 by Carmarthen magistrates and ordered to pay £212.65 prosecution costs and a £20 victim surcharge.
The court heard that he was seen by Carmarthenshire Council environmental enforcement officers leaving a drinks can under a bench near Bryn School in Gelli Road on May 7 this year.
Council executive board member for environmental and public protection Jim Jones said: "Dropping litter is against the law and anyone caught will be fined.
"We are trying our best to keep Carmarthenshire clean and tidy and this behaviour will not be tolerated."
