Ffos Las Racecourse hosts annual beer festival and race day
THE Ffos Las Beer Festival, coming to the racecourse this weekend, promises to be an event with a difference.
Tasty tipples from regional brewers will be accompanied by a card of horse racing throughout Sunday afternoon.
Organsiers say the annual fixture will be better than ever, with free beer tasting and seven races throughout the day.
Ffos Las general manager and clerk of the course Tim Long said: "We are making it a bigger event this year as we have a very, very, good class of flat racing on the day and a beer tent sponsored by Felinfoel Brewery."
In the beer tent there will be 14 real ales and three ciders to wet your whistle.
Mr Long added that the beverages on show came from a selection of Welsh and West Country breweries.
Just some of the breweries pumping beer for your enjoyment include Gower Brewery, Rhymney Brewery, and Glastonbury Ales.
The first race kicks off the day at 2.25pm with the final race starting at 5.35pm.
But the end of the racing does not call time on this family day out.
Entertainment is on tap going into the evening, with local band Expecting Company playing a set of covers and originals.
Mr Long was keen to add that even though the day focuses on beer and horse racing, it is very much a family event.
He said: "There's no reason why children can't come along, and under 18s get in for free."
Urging punters to head along, Mr Long added: "It will be a good, fun afternoon.
"We have free beer tasting, very, very high quality racing, followed by music afterwards — it will be fun for all."
Ffos Las has put on a free courtesy bus for punters to travel up to the Trimsaran racecourse.
The bus, operated on a first come first served basis, runs from Llanelli railway station at 12.40pm and 1.45pm.
It leaves the racecourse to return to Llanelli railway station at 6pm and 7pm.
