ONE of the wettest summers ever recorded has resulted in a drop in visitors to Pembrey Country Park of over 12,000, say council chiefs.

Carmarthenshire Council says wet weather has hit attendances at all parks this year.

The number of visitors to Pembrey Country Park's 500 acres of parkland and eight miles of the stunning Blue Flag rated Cefn Sidan beach, were down this year.

Official figures show visitor numbers there were 146,868 for the period April to July this summer, compared with 159,102 for the same period in 2011.
