WHEN Swansea business woman Donna Lee wanted to bring new fat-fighting methods to her Plasmarl beauty salon, she started scouring the world in search of the top technology.

What the owner of the 1192 beauty salon had not counted on was finding the latest in light and laser weight-loss technology being manufactured right on her doorstep in Llanelli.

Donna said it was a complete surprise to find Chromogenex — experts in laser and light technology, based in Dafen Industrial Estate — just a few miles away, but one that has since developed into a very productive partnership.

"So far we're the only salon with their newest machine in Wales, and being so close to Chromogenex means we're able to work with them to study the effects of the machine and improve the customer experience," she said.

"In terms of its efficiency for weight-loss, we've already seen some fantastic results with the new SmoothLite machine and we're not even at the end of the first courses of treatments."

"Combined with healthy eating and regular exercise, some of our clients have already lost over four inches from their waists."

The machine is a non-invasive alternative to surgical weight-loss treatments. It uses heat and light to diminish and redistribute problem flab. Clients undergo 10 sessions from the machine, throughout which they will be able to see the inches falling off.

Chromogenex's clinical manager Donna Freeman said the company has a long history in Llanelli, but it was a new and mutually beneficial advancement to be working with the salon.

"We've been based in Llanelli for nearly 20 years, working on pioneering light and lasers in medical and cosmetic treatments," she said.

"We've had an abundance of national and international interest in our machines, and working with Donna and 1192 is helping us examine the SmoothLite machine at work."
