A SWANSEA farmer has been told that he cannot build a home for a worker on his land.

William Stevens, of Llannant Farm, Gorseinon, had asked Swansea Council for planning permission to build a home for one agricultural worker but his request was turned down.

The council also received two letters of objection relating to the plans.

Planning officers told councillors that among the objections was that "the land in question is valuable farmland which should be safeguarded".

It was also questioned whether water pressure would be high enough to serve a building in the location, and that vehicular access to the site would be problematic.

The application also received 11 letters of support saying that the council should support local businesses and the next generation of framers.
