"Her walking, however has not really improved in the past two years and we have been desperately searching since then for anything that will improve the quality of her life."

Faith, who lives with her dad, mum Sarah, and younger brother Morgan in Gowerton, faces a childhood very different from most children, however, she always has a smile on her face, says her dad.

"She is an inspiration, she will try anything," her father said. "She loves being outdoors but her condition means nearly all outdoor activities are incredibly difficult for her.

"Still, she tries, falls over again and again but she keeps getting up, never complains and is always smiling."

Of the operation, he said: "If all goes well she will no longer need her wheelchair. She will be able to walk over all types of terrain, she will hopefully be able to run and ride a bike. These are simple things for most children but a dream for Faith, a dream that could well come true."
