Swansea Council took over parking enforcement from South Wales Police in September last year

There are now 24 wardens, compared with seven when the police were in charge

The wardens patrol the entire city and county of Swansea area and can be deployed to specific problem parking hot-spots

They originally operated from 8am until 8pm, Monday to Saturday, but they now patrol until midnight, to deter dangerous parking in areas like the Vue Cinema

They hand out £70 or £50 fines, depending on the severity of the parking offence

“Where were the wardens when Swansea were playing at home on Saturday. There were hundreds of cars everywhere, on pavements , on grass verges, everywhere. Not a traffic warden in sight.”
