FOLK IN THE CHAPEL!
ON Friday, August 16, the Valley Folk Club regulars and friends will be performing on stage in Pontardawe Arts Centre from 7-9.30pm.
The evening will feature talented young fiddle player Aneirin Jones, Anthony Harland, Bob Thomas and Huw Pudner, Eirawyn Lewis, Empty Shed Experience, Heather Pudner, John Nicholas, Lynne Gent, Lynnford Jones, Paul Nichols, Sandra Jones, Sian Richards, Sprite, Thomas Fitton and Y Plebs. MC is Gareth Cornfield.
Following on straight on afterwards at 9.30pm there will be a ceilidh with live music for dancing from Celtic Sound with caller Keith Lascelles.
The ticket will include both concert and ceilidh and will take you through the whole evening . They will be available to buy on the door.
Valley Folk Club regulars will, along with Chapel Members be contributing songs, tunes and recitations to the Folk Service in Gellionnen Unitarian Chapel -‘the White Chapel’- on Mynydd Gellionnen, the mountain above Pontardawe on Sunday morning. August 18. This will be a chance to see the inside of this wonderful ancient place of worship and experience the peace and beauty of the area which has astounding views. The guest minister will once again be Alun-Wyn Dafis who took his accordion to play last year. All will be welcome to stay for a cuppa and take a picnic for inside or out depending on the weather, and perhaps even take along an instrument to join in at the picnic. Doors open from 10.30am and the service starts at 11am.
