LANDLORDS of a Swansea public house are keeping their spirits up after a number of spooky experiences.

John Reed, who owns the William Hancock in Mumbles with his wife Patsy, said a number of unexplained spooky goings-on had taken place since they took over the pub before Christmas.

The latest freak event at the 160-year-old pub saw a 26in television jump off a solid oak support and smash in front of regulars onto the floor.

Seven locals were gathered around the bar area when the television flew off the shelf and landed about two to three metres away from them.

Mr Reed said: "It was all very strange. It is not a flat screen television, it is an old chunky television which is quite heavy. There are no leads or cables around it and the oak support is perfectly intact.

"The television was on at the time and it just shot off as if somebody had lifted it up and thrown it on the floor. Nothing else was damaged or broken." But that is not the only paranormal activity to take place at the historic pub.

Mr Reed has experienced the sound of keys being dropped only to find there is nothing there as well as lights switching themselves on.

Do you know of any haunted buildings, or have you experienced paranormal events yourself? If so, please comment below.

He said: "We have had the usual creaks and bangs in the pub as well as lights turning themselves back on.

"It is quite bizarre. I am not really a believer of things like this but I am beginning to think more about paranormal activity."

There are several rumours to suggest the pub could be haunted.

Mr Reed added: "According to a local book about the history of Mumbles pubs, there was a local drowning of a young girl and it is believed her inquest took place at the pub. It is all very strange and unexplained."

“I also agree with Paul and Andrew. Even if the pub is haunted its still my favourite. New landlords have done wonders!”
