THE fight for the title in the premier division of the LTC Mobility Carmarthenshire Football League took another twist when second-placed Evans & Williams dropped a couple of crucial points in a 2-2 draw at home to Gorseinon Athletic.

Yet Evans & Williams made the best possible start, taking the lead in the 12th minute through Matthew Hughes, who headed home a corner swung in by Robert Jones.

Then came a blow for the home team, with keeper Graham Williams being shown the red card in the 35th minute. He was replaced between the sticks by Nathan Banfield.

Five minutes later Gorseinon were back on terms courtesy of an own goal conceded by Cellan Jenkins when a shot from Matthew Thomas deflected off Jenkins and into the net.

Shortly afterwards the visitors were down to 10 men, Jamie Harries being given his marching orders after being shown a second yellow.

Within ten minutes of the restart the home team were back in front, a left-foot shot by Robert Jones leaving the keeper helpless.

It looked as if Evans & Williams were going to go on and collect all three points, but Lewis Evans denied them with a fine equaliser for 2-2.

Evans & Williams pushed forward in search of a winner and were denied when a shot by Stuart Rees came back off the bar.

The dropped points leaves Evans & Williams in second place, two points behind leaders Seaside and one ahead of third-placed Loughor Rovers. All three teams have played the same number of games.

The honours were also shared between Bwlch Rangers and visiting Tumble United, the game ending 2-2.

The first blow was delivered by Bwlch, who broke the deadlock with a breathtaking 30-yard strike from Darren Joce in the 20th minute when he smashed the ball into the roof of the net after being fed by Lee Davies.

But bottom club Tumble were in no mood to be rolled over, and in the 40th minute they grabbed a deserved equaliser via Dominic Saunders.

A couple of minutes into the second half he was on target again, lobbing the keeper to put Tumble ahead for the first time.

With the referee looking at his watch it looked as if Tumble would hold out for three precious points in their fight to avoid relegation, but they were cruelly denied by a header from Ian Evans, which made it 2-2 in the 89th minute.

In division one these are tough times for Llanelli Steel, who crashed 11-0 at home to Pwll Athletic.

Striker Marcus James helped himself to a couple of goals in each half.

Four of the goals were shared between Tom Connors and Steffan James, while also on target were Jamie Ward, Carl Bibby and Morgan Thomas.

The big game in division three was the Gwendraeth Valley derby between Kidwelly Town and visiting Bancffosfelen, which finished 0-0.

But it wasn't as dull as the scoreline might suggest, with both teams having chances to win it.

For Bancffosfelen, Christian Saunders failed to deliver on a one-on-one with goalkeeper Shaun Jones.

Both keepers were outstanding, Kidwelly's Jones never looking like being beaten, and Banc's Darren Evans saving a penalty in the second half as well as denying the home team with a string of fine saves.

In a solid defence none did better for Kidwelly than right-back Chris Cray, while none worked harder for Bancffosfelen than Gavin Griffiths in midfield.

In the fourth round of the Darch Cup, Ceri Jones netted twice for Seaside Reserves in their 4-1 win at Trallwm. Gareth Blair and Neil Richards also scored. It was 3-0 at the break.
