Europe has been brought to a Swansea school
A TASTE of Europe has been served up to pupils at a Swansea school.
Students at Birchgrove Comprehensive School have been taking part in European Languages Day.
It is the first time the Birchgrove Road school has played host to the event, which is staged in different schools and workplaces.
Joanna Thomas, head of French, said the entire school was involved in the day.
Miss Thomas said: "European Languages Day is held all over Europe and lots of schools and workplaces get involved in it.
"It's an event we wanted to hold over a few years. On the global citizenship side we wanted to do some extra work on it and be aware of the world around us."
She said the French department held lessons including German, Spanish and Italian and played host to a variety of games and activities.
Miss Thomas said it also offered pupils from Poland, Portugal, Belgian, India and Pakistan the chance to talk about their roots and different cuisine was served in the canteen.
