Enzo in showdown with Hungarian 'Pitbull'
ENZO Maccarinelli will face Hungary's best cruiserweight in the latest stage of his career comeback.
Swansea's former WBO champion takes on Zoltan Czekus at Liverpool's Echo Arena on Friday night as he looks to continue his road to redemption.
Defeats to Ola Afolabi and Denis Lebedev severely dented Maccarinelli's stock in boxing, but the 29-year-old is determined to make his way back to the top.
And following a 90-second knockout of Hungarian Krisztian Jaksi in December, Maccarinelli is now looking to demolish Czekus and register his 24th-career KO.
Czekus — who has been nicknamed pitbull in his homeland — is ranked Hungary's leading cruiserweight and sits 13 places above Maccarinelli's previous victim Jaksi.
The 34-year-old came into the sport late, with his 11 career fights all within the past 11 months.
He has lost twice — those defeats coming in his last three bouts — and drawn once, while four of his eight victories have come via knockout.
On paper this looks like another comfortable night for Maccarinelli, who is looking to get those damaging defeats to Afolabi and Lebedev out of his system.
Victory over Czekus won't do much for Maccarinelli's ranking, but it will help put back the pieces which saw him become such a force in the division.
