Electrification on agenda
POLITICIANS, academics and business leaders are due to attend a meeting on electrifying the rail route to Swansea next month.
Swansea West MP Geraint Davies brought together stakeholders to create a united voice for the "Swansea Bay City Region" in May.
The proposed region would cover Swansea, Neath Port Talbot, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire, representing a population of 750,000 people.
Last year the UK government announced the Great Western mainline would be electrified from London to Cardiff but not extended to Swansea.

A decision on extension to Swansea is expected to be made when the Government announces its High Level Output Statement for capital investment for 2014-2019 in July.
The next meeting of stakeholders is on July 13 between 11am and 12.30pm at Swansea Civic Centre.
