EXCLUSIVE: Watch shocking CCTV footage of Wind Street brawl
SHOCKING film of a vicious street brawl has been released by police.
The CCTV footage shows a sickening punch-up on Swansea's Wind Street which resulted in six men appearing in court for what a judge condemned as "thuggish and loutish" behaviour.

CCTV footage of a brawl in Swanseaâs Wind Street. Following the brawl, six of those involved were charged and convicted of affray.
One of the men is a serving soldier who had been praised for "exemplary service" in Afghanistan.
Now everyone can see exactly what happened on the night, after the Post was handed a copy of CCTV footage of the incident.
The violent film — almost five minutes long — shows an orgy of violence with a stream of punches, kicks and stampings being meted out before the attackers run off, and are dramatically chased-down by police.
Detective Inspector Andy Hughes said: "This was a shocking incident of violence in a public place.
"Tackling violent crime is a priority and the film graphically shows why this is so important."
Six men pleaded guilty to using or threatening unlawful violence in an affray in connection with the incident, which happened in the early hours of December 30 last year.
The dirty half-dozen are — Jamie Day, aged 19, of Penderry Road, Penlan; Stephen Byrne, aged 20, of Bryn Terrace, Landore; Philip Walters, aged 19, of Bohun Street, Manselton; Kevin Sims, aged 20, of Major Street, Manselton; Joshua Arnold, aged 20, of Hollett Road, Treboeth; and Sean Lloyd, aged 20, Manselton.
Day, Byrne, Walters, Sims and Arnold were each made the subject of a 12-month sentence of custody which was suspended for 12 months. Each must also carry out 150 hours of unpaid community work.
But in Lloyd's case the judge said he was prepared to take a "wholly exceptional" course and impose a 12-month community order with an unpaid work requirement of 200 hours because he didn't want to hand-down a sentence that might jeopardise his Army career.
All six defendants were also made the subject of an exclusion order preventing them from visiting licensed premises in Wind Street or The Kingsway until November 30.
The judge, Recorder Lloyd Williams QC, told the men: "This was an appalling piece of public violence. You behaved in a thuggish and loutish manner and have brought considerable shame on yourselves and your families."

“Say what you want about the behaviour of the people involved but the fact of the matter is if the Police officers who attended the scene wr anywhere near fit then the guilty parties would have been caught. Its an absolute disgrace that the Police woman runs about 50 yards then gives up. We pay taxes for people who can not do their job to a decent standard. Lets be honest there is no way in hell those guys should have escaped arrest. Public services in this country are an absolute joke.”

“Makes me proud to live in Swansea.....NOT! I know nothing about this but it seems to be the same guy kicking it all back off again all the time. Good upbringing someone said? I doubt it, no offence! Or they wouldnt do it...and then run away! Would people be so quick to defend these boys if one of the people they hit had died? Because it happens! Fights happen, but to repeatedly keep going back for more is just pathetic!!!”

“all you people jugdeing these boys on this one fight get a grip.i happen to know these boys .they are very decent boys with a good upbringing .dont judge them just form the area they are from.not every body is the same.you never know it could be your son or daughter . james from langland manselton treboth are not estates so get it right.u dont know these boys.pamela yet again from langland you dont know these boys either.what happened that night is totally out of character for them all.nobody knows what was said or what happened inside the club,so how can anybody judge.these boys dont go out looking for trouble yes it got out of hand and yes they got their punishment.but what about those others who you never know might have started all this they got away scott free.they may not be so lucky next time.the door men should not have let them all out at the same time how stupid is their actions.they would have known it would kick off out side.liz swansea have you been into swansea on a weekend i doubt it.i go most wkends its very rare we see any trouble .there is always a lot of police presence .the majority of people of all sorts of ages are out to enjoy and have a good time.all you cynics out there leave these boys alone .5 minutes of madness do not make them a criminal.there are worse things happening in this world than a few boys having a fight and im sure they are not happy with what happened .but would just like to get on with their lives and their jobs.believe me i wouldnt be ashamed if any one of these boys were my son just because of what happened for 5 min out of their 20 yrs.i wouldnt be pleased because it was terrible to watch .but who knows how anyone would react if you were caught up in something like this.leave them be they are good decent lads.”

“I cannot believe what I am reading here! How can we sit here and think that any sort of violence can be classed as OK in this situation? I'm am trying to bring my son and daughter into a world where people think that this is acceptable? As far as we should be concerned violence of any sort should not be tolerated. Has this become so acceptable to the majority of people that the next step would be to think that knives or even guns could or would become tolerated after repeated usage, because it's the normal thing to do on a Saturday night out in town with the lads??
I'm not perfect, an angel or a saint but just a normal person, but I've never gotten involved with a brawl or even a fight whilst out drinking. Some readers might even think that this makes me a coward but I prefer to avoid trouble or not cause any by having a good time when out drinking with mates. I believe that the point of going out and socialising with your friends is to just socialise, not go looking for trouble. If people are out looking for trouble then they are the abnormal ones who should be punished if needed.
As for the lad in the Army I don't want to try to tell the judge how to do his job but not wanting to jeopardize his army career after this event? You have got to be kidding me! Special treatment for this lad because he's in the Army. He's not got the right to any special protection because of this. The Army I hope would look at this and discharge him as this is disgraceful. He is supposed to stand up for the people of this country not put them in hospital!
Decent people are now put off or scared to go out drinking in Swansea because of this sort of behaviour because it doesn't stay confined to the people originally involved any more. There are always people hanging around somewhere to get mixed up and aggravate the situation further.”

“When i was growing up and if i had a dust up a one on one was a fair fight, shook hands and walked away when finished! All this kicking on the floor and 4 onto one is S**tbag fighting, As a doorman myself the doorstaff are not lisenced or insured to deal with anything on the streets and being the 30th of december there would only be skeleton staff! As for boldy with the black t-shirt.... Christ what a girls blouse!!!”

“Right, this happens everywhere in the world so just shut up you lot who are giving a lot of mouth about swansea because i bet it happens in your town unless you live in a forest. When you have had a bit too much too drink and bad words are exchanged this is usually the result to a lot of people. Its just a brawl between drunk people, everyones acting like this is a massive problem.. worry about the real thugs out there across the uk who carry guns and other weapons which result in a lot of deaths which we have seen on the news and in the paper in the past. But for now shut up and let whoever is involved sort it out”

“Given the loutish behaviour and the work that went into the investigation, I doubt that the sentence will deter people from doing this in the future. It seems to me that it's OK to put the boot into someones head but don't you dare crash a police car or you'll be sent to prison. The justice system in the UK can be a joke and does not, in anyway, reflect the actions of an individual.”

“Quote by Gary Uk..
"typical swansea i'm afraid...but not typical wales, sadly its mirrored on many streets in the uk not just swansea....but i must say it is getting a reputation as a boozed up drug filled city "
Mate, I saw guns and knives being pulled out on people on the kingsway '15yrs' ago!
Trust me, Swansea has got a lot better since those times even though Wind street is one of the worst planned and obviously dangerous areas to drink on occasions, dangerous fighting and violence has decreased overall..”
